Seasons of Light

While life often comes with a predictable pattern of ups and downs, we often experience our seasons of darkness and light simultaneously. It's a natural part of the complexity of life, but as we constantly cross the threshold between these two forces, their contrast is where we often learn our deepest lessons.

As we enter this traditional season of light, I thought I'd share with you one of my favorite seasonal songs. It's one of my favorites because it has brought me incredible power and light. The first Christmas after I separated from my husband of 33 years--a time when my mother was dying and I was greatly worried for one of my children's mental health and life, I was introduced to this song. I would listen to it obsessively, usually with a waterfall of tears. But they were not tears of sorrow (not wholly). I cried because at a time when so little seemed right in my life, this song helped me believe that in reality, All is Well.

I hope you enjoy this version with my prayer that in the midst of your own mix of light and dark you will feel hope.
